Steemit Engagement Challenge WOX S6W6: "My Photo Diary "5 photos of memorable events in 2022"

in hive-185836 •  2 years ago

Hi there!

Happy New Year!

Is it not strange that with only one day away from 2022 it already feels like ages ago?

My dearest diary, today I must choose 5 photos out of hundreds of photos to “tell” you about my most memorable moments of the past year.

At first, it seemed like an enormous task waiting for me. Yet when I started browsing my photos I only marked 8 of them. They were the ones that left me full of emotions.

Some with a tear in my eye, others with a big smile on my face, and yah some caused a bit of nostalgia.

05:02 am

It was the first day of 2022 and as the sun rise over Johannesburg, South Africa, coloring the sky we lay in bed drinking our morning coffee and tea. We could not help but wonder what the new year will bring for us as the previous year was one we would rather like to forget.

Will this be the year that we sell our property and moved to the coast, a dream we’ve been holding onto for so many years? “Oh, well, only time will tell.” These were the unspoken words between us.

06 March 2022

Due to so many circumstances and things that went wrong hubby and I withdraw totally from society. All we wanted to do was to stay at home.

Sunday 06 March and my brother-in-law invited us to go look at his farm which is situated on a game park near Johannesburg. Driving around the park I took various photos of the game but one thing grabbed my attention, the sand road stretching for miles with its twist and turns. Some parts of the road are in the shade and the others are in the warm autumn sun.

Is this not what life is all about, sometimes easy and pleasant and other times hard? We have still not sold our property and the hopes for doing it were shrinking.

When we got home we received a phone call, we had buyers and an OTP was on its way! Our road was now in the shade and it seems that it will be tarred soon.

15 June 2022

What a special day!

Ballito or Dolphin Coast as it is known as is now our home! Tired from the move and unpacking we took a break and headed for the beach.

It was when we stepped onto the beach that we could start breathing again. It was a long three years for us.

“Every cloud has a silver lining!” We have arrived! Our dream has come true.

06 August

If there is one thing I like to do it is to take landscape photos and especially photos of churches and clouds.

Driving around we found this little church, St Agnes Anglican Church, in a small little town called Kloof. For the first time, I truly felt like I am at “home”. I am longer part of the hustle and bustle of the big city.

I could not wait to share my photos with my Steemian friend @Ngoenyi so special it was.

22 December 2022

My family, my mom of 85, my sister, and her daughter came to visit us. I took them on a drive to Durban. We visited places we visit as children when mom and dad took us, the three children, on holiday. One of the places was Durban harbor.

While my sister and her daughter were browsing through the Maritime Museum I sat with my mom in the car. She took my hand, squeeze it, looked into my face, and said “Dankie” (Thank you).

Was this the last trip down memory lane I shared with my mother?

My dearest diary, 2022 was a year filled with excitement. A year to be truly thankful of.

Looking out over the ocean when the sun rises this morning I could not help to wonder what the new year will bring… a repeat of my thoughts at the start of 2022.

“Only time will tell.”

Some great memories

Indeed! (•ิ‿•ิ)

...what the new year will bring for us as the previous year was one we would rather like to forget.

And we would like to forget this year, 2022. In any case, starting from February 24.

Is this not what life is all about, sometimes easy and pleasant and other times hard?

People here say: life is like a zebra - a white stripe and a black stripe. And what color will the ass be?

I am longer part of the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Oh, how well I understand you! I don't like big cities! I love the countryside, but so that there is an opportunity to come to the city. I love nature. But life forced me to go to work in the city. But I often do it remotely from my home.

24 February - True!

Zebra and it's stripes - We have what we call "Zonkey's" in South Africa. A cross between a zebra and a donkey. I suppose in this case the color of the ass will depend on where the cross is. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Working from home - The one blessing of Covid, more people working from home these days which is such a blessing!

PS: Thank you for the visit and great comment

I worked remotely from home even before covid, since 2012. I am a programmer and the company I work for is located in Moscow, and I am 1000 km away from it.

Oh my word, 1000 km. That is far.
My hubby is also a programmer but with the difference, it was our company and he had to go to the office every day.

There is absolutely no need for a programmer to go to the office every day with modern means of communication. But not all company managers understand this yet. For many, the most important thing is that a person spends his time in the office from 8 am to 17:00.
I was lucky with my supervisors. Or maybe they're all lucky with me? 😂

Umh… You got me thinking 🤔
Let’s make it the latter 😊

ahahah 😂😂😂

About the same in February 2020, after the interview, my future supervisor told me. She said - we learned a lot after talking with you and thought about it. Times are changing. 💪
Now I work part-time in the office, and most of the time I work at home. Sometimes I go to the office myself every day. I just have to drive 50 km to the office.

February… it seems like this month is very significant to you.
I cannot wait to read what February 2023 delivered.
Kindly keep me in mind when you share :-)
