Let's meet some very friendly, cute and curious alpacas which are always up for a snack. They actually remind me of someone - myself!

Alpacas are like small llamas or camels without the humps, especially when sheared. They have shaggy necks, camel-like faces, thick lips, long ears and pronounced noses.

Alpacas are considered the treasure of the Andes and are herd animals which prefer being part of and living in a community. They respond quite well to children and that is why many ranches are extremely popular amongst families with kids of all ages.

The hair of the alpaca, called fleece, has 22 natural shades including black, grey, white, light and dark brown and even champagne. These mammals are also bred for a certain colour.

Alpacas are easily domesticated and nowadays alpaca farms are a common sight across the English countryside. There are many ways to experience these delicate creatures, from workshops to walks.

I opted for an afternoon tea experience, here in east Sussex, before which you get plenty of time to get close to the animals, photo them and even feed them carrots which they never seem to have enough of.

Afternoon tea is a traditional British, which as you would guess by the name, is a tea-related ritual. It is a light meal served usually between 3:30 and 5 pm and consists of sandwiches, cakes, pastries, shortbread and scones with jam and cream. Whether the jam or the cream goes on the scone first depends on whether you are in Devon or Cornwall.

It is an integral part of the British culture which makes it a popular experience for international tourists visiting the UK. An average price for an afternoon tea in London is just over £40 per person and of course it is cheaper if you have it in a smaller town in the countryside without having to compromise on the quality of the food and drinks included. You can also decide to add a glass of fizz (or even make it bottomless!) be it for a special occasion or if you just decide to treat yourself. Why not - you deserve it!

Alpacas... what a fashionable headdress :-))

Isn’t it @bambuka! I do like how they have a wig or let’s say a party hat on - that’s fun :)

they are real women of fashion :-))

:) They are indeed @bambuka!

So cute creatures...

The black one is my favourite.

One more excellent post on your blog.

Thank you ever so much @datych!

The black cria by the way - your favourite is called Treacle and it was the youngest alpaca there, born less than two months before I photoed them!

I love alpacas, they are so cute and the fur looks so soft. I can imagine tea time is originated form an old tradition and still very popular today. But £40 per person that sounds really expensive, although might be delicious.

I am glad you also love these gorgeous animals @stef1! I also wish the afternoon tea was cheaper so more of us were able to have it out even on weekly basis. The food is tasty and plentiful so you always end up taking left overs home.
