More Than A Thousand Islands (PowerUp 100%)

Croatia has a special place in my heart. The tasty food and friendly locals let you explore this European country at your own pace. There are many historical sites here, Venetian, Renaissance and typical Dalmatian architecture and of course plenty of beaches (mostly pebbly) to have lots of fun in the sun on.

Hvar Island with its rustic cobblestone streets is a favourite place of mine as it has it all - a stunning coast, an old town with many churches and museums, a Spanish fortress on a hill boasting stunning views, numerous places to eat and a buzzing nightlife.

Hvar Island is easily accessible from Split airport on a ferry and the journey takes about an hour. Two companies run the route: the major one Jadrolinija and Kapetan Luka, which does discounts on certain timings when you just walk in to purchase a ticket on the day. Double check which port in Hvar the ferry will take you too as there are two options: the main hub Hvar town (fantastic for especially your first visit) and Stari Grad.

Hvar Island is famous for its lavender fields seen in full bloom in June and July.

Beautiful sceneries.

But my favourite images in this post are the boat and flowers. They immerse into the place's atmosphere. Probably, because they relate to smells? .. Sea and lavender ones ... Or because such photos are harder to take from the point of the composition.

Or maybe because I have become a fan of closeups?. :) I take more and more of them...

I think @datych it must be a mixture of all of the potential reasons you came up with :) I am very glad to hear that those two are you favourite photos as they are exactly images I am sharing with the world for the first time ever!

Talking close ups, maybe you would consider entering this Contest?

:)

I don't know. I feel macro guys like exactly macro photos showing tiny things, better with many details (focus staking). Closeups I prefer are about something else. Maybe I am wrong.

Right you are @datych. But let's say your extreme close up of cabbage (yes, I still remember this photo of yours!) I reckon might be well taken? Just a thought.

I have planned a flower shooting in a weekend from now with a macro lens so hopefully I will have some fresh suitable new content to enter this contest as well.
