Small Kyseľ gorge

Hi!

From the relative comfort of the shelter, we are going to tackle piles of snow again. In two and a half hours, we crossed the Suchá Belá gorge, which I wrote about in the previous post, and now we are heading to the mouth of the Malý Kyseľ gorge.

The nature of the road has changed considerably compared to the first gorge. Suchá Belá Gorge is the most visited gorge in the Slovak Paradise National Park. In the summer, columns form in it. Although there are no columns there in winter, I still think that even at this time of year it is the most visited gorge.

On the other hand, few people visit the Malý Kyseľ gorge in winter. We see it on the path that is trodden to it. It is very narrow and it is obvious that in addition to us, no more than ten people have passed through this gorge during the winter, according to my estimation. But despite this, we are grateful to them, because we don't have to tread the path, but we can use their tracks.

You can get to the gorge, for example, from Kláštorisk. It is not very long, just over two kilometers. However, it is definitely worth a visit.

Already at the beginning, we can see a big difference compared to the Suchá Bela gorge. In addition to the fact that fewer tourists have passed through here, it is obvious that there are different climatic conditions in this gorge. There is a lot more snow and significantly more water flowing down the creek. But that doesn't bother us, we are well enough prepared for the hike. On our feet we have high-quality hiking boots with cats on them. We are wearing warm clothes and we also carry spare clothes in case of need. Gloves on the hands must also not be missing. I have to admit that I don't wear hats very much, so instead I wear a hood on my sweatshirt and jacket, which I can throw over my head at any time.

The conditions are more stable in the gorge and, unlike Kláštorisk, there is no wind in the gorge. It's all the more enjoyable.

We walk along the ladders, which you will encounter almost immediately after entering the gorge. They are snowy and I am glad that we have cats on our shoes to give us confidence when we walk.

After a while we come to the Small waterfall. It is the first waterfall that we can see in the gorge. We go up the ladder and admire its beauty.

The gorge is narrow and picturesque in these places. You are literally touching the rocks on both sides. I am very glad we decided to go on this hike and I really enjoy these transitions.

Another waterfall in the Malý Kyseľ gorge is the Mahový vodopád. It is really beautiful and I read that it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Slovak Paradise. I have no choice but to prove them right.

Gradually, the gorge widens a little and we enter, as it were, a forest. It really is a wilderness.

We are moving slowly. We try to follow the beaten tracks in the deep snow, but from time to time we lose them and create our own trail.

We jump over the stream from side to side, crawl under fallen trees, or try to cross them. There is a lot of snow and ice everywhere and a lot of water in the stream. Real wilderness and I like it.

In some places we looked ahead and really didn't know where to go. That is, how to get around the obstacles that nature itself has put in our way.

After a while, we reached the forest, the stream became smaller until finally it disappeared completely, but we managed to overcome fallen trees and snow until the end of our passage through this beautiful gorge.

It is exactly this type of adventure that I adore and enjoy. Untamed nature in all its beauty.

Well thank you.
