Hello my dear Steemians,

This is the new account “Planetwild” by @stef1 and @myskye. This account is about collecting Steem for the PlanetWild project. That's why I'm going to post once a day. Everything we get together here (Steem, SBD, SP) goes to the project. Then let's see what we can do here...

Sea turtles are ancient and majestic creatures that have been inhabiting the world's oceans for millions of years. They play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by contributing to the balance of marine life. Despite their ecological importance, sea turtles face numerous threats, including habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching. Efforts to conserve and protect these magnificent creatures are crucial to ensuring their survival and the preservation of our oceans.

Cape Verde is known for being a critical nesting site for several species of sea turtles, including the loggerhead, hawksbill, and green turtles. These turtles travel thousands of miles to the island nation to lay their eggs on its pristine beaches.

Cape Verde is an island country located off the coast of West Africa. It is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and diverse landscapes. With a population of about 550,000 people, Cape Verde has a mix of African and European influences.

Mission 11

We’re sending the dog squad on turtle patrol

Sea turtles in Cape Verde are under threat. Even today, they’re being illegally hunted for their meat. In times of hardship, loggerhead turtles were a vital food source for the local community. Nowadays, it has become more of a delicacy. Even though stricter laws have been implemented, there are still enough people paying good money for poached loggerhead meat, which is bad news for the turtles.

Thanks to their important work, loggerhead sea turtles can nest safely on Boa Vista’s beaches, and their dwindling population has a chance to recover.

I have been to Cape Verde, on Sal Island. I felt that the local authorities were committed to the conservation of the beaches where turtles lay their eggs. I know that the tourist pressure on the Cape Verde Archipelago is often conflicting with preservation efforts. Let's have faith that the turtles can have a bright future in this region. Cheers :)

Thank you very much for your desire to make the planet beautiful. Great post. I wish you success.

I remembered! In Abu Dhabi, you can't stay on the beaches after sunset because of the turtles. More precisely, small turtles can hatch and crawl to the water...

Thank you, friend!
