At the beach life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun. - Sandy Gingras
Not too long back I went on a beautiful beach walk here in the Western Cape of South Africa. It's a beach I've walked on many times and in the past have walked along the beach that's close to the house right up to the beach that is pictured in this post. It's roughly a 15km walk along the sand and it is just pure magic.
This time though we drove through to the other side of the beach and had a short walk that side instead, and then afterwards we had a drink at the beach side restaurant. We walked for about 1km and came across a wonderful display of driftwood that had been washed up by the sea. Every time walkers pass by they add to the display, making it a wonderful piece of art!
I love all these tradition-like things, it's like re engaging with your inner child and it's lovely. About a month ago my partner and I were away (post to follow) and were taking a walk and we come across what seemed like an endless path lined with stones that were covered in art work, some with uplifting messages, some with humours illustrations, I found it hard not to take photos of all of them but I resisted the urge so we could continue our walk to, you guessed it, another beach!
Alongside the beach is a lagoon, it often opens up to the sea making it a great spot to swim. This time there was a man that had done some 'sand art', I guess one would call it. It was amazing! There are some seriously talented people in this world and I admire the time and effort it must take to create such masterpieces.
I love being the sea, I find it soothing and a place I can really "exhale", it feels almost like a blank canvas with the long stretches of sand - that's probably why I can never resist the urge to find something to write with and leave a message in the sand! Lol. Some things never get old haha.
The beaches here in South Africa that I have seen so far take my breath away, so much natural beauty, and with the majestic mountains as the back drop... Wow, it's something special. I am looking forward to returning in November already. I fly back to England tomorrow and sadly leave my partner until I return (he lives here in South Africa). Without sounding too "cheesy" lol, he is my world, and it just doesn't feel right when I'm not with him. To quote "Winnie the Pooh"...
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
Until next time... ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing walk with awesome finds - I cant even single out which I enjoyed more! The sand statues... or graffiti on the rocks? or the title driftwood installation. Does it has any use or purpose, or... my guess it was created without any functionality, just for fun - for the love of the art! what do you think?

I'm glad you enjoyed the post! Thank you.
So many lovely finds along the way I wanted to photograph it all haha :)
No, it doesn't have a use as such, just for fun and for the love of art like you said. It's a nice novelty I would say and great that it's still standing :)
