While I rarely use rulers, in some cases they come handy.

French curves are fun. They are great for fashion design.

For drawing round edges.

And, I use them for speech balloons.

Here, in comics I made (my Mom, my Daughter, and me).

Regular rulers.
I love the Staedtler rulers, with inking edge.

An inking edge, is an elevated edge, which is good for working with pens (so they won't smudge).

I do not use the inking edge side, though.

There are also geometric rulers for drawing symbols and unique shapes.

Mostly, I use rulers for perspective drawing.

When I render realism, there are no lines (I use the lines just for the initial structure).
