6 years of my life - 6 years of sailing [Video & Blog]

A guy from saxony became a sailor

I never had anything to do with water or the sea's other that my dad was born in Wismar (at the east German northsea). Grown up in Saxony, I was as far away from sea as some whales from land. Due to circumstances I went sailing at the age of 33 and after this I changed my life to become a sailor.

Six years later I look back to a lot of adventures, hard and good times. Meeting fabulous people, very selfish people, sweet persons and everything in between. At the end, boats are alive because of the people on them. Without us, they are just a piece of wood, steel or fiber glass. We as human give things purpose and nature gives us purpose.

A few impressions: ships I have been sailing on or with.

The fight with nature, the feeling you have while traveling, the exploration of your self and our vessel of transportation are a thrill in life not a lot of people can experience. Unfortunately, sailing is a elite sport and will always be because of the circumstances how everything works. You need to spend a lot of time and money to sail the world BUT if you want something, you will achieve something.

A few of the people I meet along the way:

Regardless if you want to be a great content creator, a poet, a singer or what ever it might be there are a few things that will lead you to your goal: Passion, Struggle and Love.

I had all of them and a lot more and still I feel the choice to go sailing was a good one.

Here is my art in motion

I hope you enjoy my a few words and the video!

Sailing! How wonderful! I also discovered it late in life. My neighbours ten years ago had two sailing boats and I discovered my love for sailing with them. I don´t like motor boats. Our travels have only been around the Balearics. Ten days at the most at sea. I love the rhythm of this way of life and hope to be able to live on a boat for a year or more before I die. My current circumstances don´t allow me to but as soon as things change, this is on my bucketlist!
You have been on wonderful old big sailing boats! What a grat experience this must have been, also, I guess with a large crew. I think I prefer smaller sailing boats with fewer people, but I haven´t tried it. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for your lovely comment =) you are very right about the rhythm at sea, i love this a lot too! I hope your circumstances chance that way that you can go where you want to =)

all the best!

p.s. is steemit dead? 9 likes for this is quite the joke... no offence

Steemit fluctuates, sometimes posts are seen by many and other times very few, I still haven´t worked out why, may be the day of the week... who knows! I´ll share it and see if it helps!

so still the same... i posted this quite late in my eve, prolly this was a mistake, but who cares =)

thank you!

Hey Ric! Nice to see you again here and to see your beautiful videos it is completely different to see sailing on video because you notice the wind and waves and even h ave a feeling on salty water on skin.

6 years of sailing is huge time, you might have had such experience.

The Steemit is different from Hive, the division into communities more noticeable and many stay within their community. We recently very busy with my work and renovation. not much time for being online.

But we still curate within art community, good that you still posting from community page. use also tags#art and #art-venture, so that Visual Art creator can see you.

#oc, #neoxian, #photocircle and #creativecoin not existing here.

Wishing you nice week :)

hey stef, to be honest, i was hoping you'll see this and leave a comment, since this was really a staple for me here on steemit =) - thanks for this favor - haha.

and yeah, hive must be different that steemit, else wise it is pretty pointless intrinsically. funny part about the tags, i was copying them ages ago from some "viral" steemit post - haha!

if i look back, i do have a lot of experiences and i guess i would do everything the same way again and that makes me satisfied. there are of cause some decisions that were questionable but that is life... lets make it better the next time :)

all the best!
