FIRST FIRES CAUGHT ON TIME. IBIZA June 2021

the other sign that summer is here is less cute than my lovely cat Squeeky in my previous post.
It´s getting dry and hot.
This week we have had to put out two fires and we were lucky to get there before it hit the woods or the hills.
The one I show you in these images started in a very large hole where the land owner kept throwing in all the organic waste from trees and gardens and fields he cleans. During the winter months when it´s still possible to do this, he would burn part of it. Well, what happened here was that this had gone on burning under ground and there was no sign of the fire till it became dry and windy the other day and it came to the surface and started flaming.
This is just near a riverbed full of bambus and this picks up really fast if any sparks fly.
So we got there in time but couldn´t really put it out till the big machine came and moved the earth around. We found it was burning at 3 meters under the surface. We all enjoyed watching this large machine move the earth.

Then, the day after, just when we got home from work we were called back in to go to a fire that was running over some fields and we spent a few hours there also. Luckily it didn´t affect the woodland yet.
As I say, its getting hot and now the summer fire risk is high again.
