Waterfalls
I have always loved waterfalls. When I was a kid I remember visiting Niagara Falls in New York. I think waterfalls were made to calm the soul and psyche of humans and animals alike. I think a waterfall is Mother Nature’s Tranquilizer. It reminds us to be present and enjoy the moment and the natural beauty which surrounds us.
Hamakua Coast, Hawaii
The Hamakua Coast is on the northeast coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is famous for the beauty of the waterfalls and the number of waterfalls. I was blessed to visit this area and enjoy its beauty. I took short hikes, climbed a few stairs and in general had an easy time accessing and viewing these waterfalls. I recommend that you visit this area on your trip to Hawaii. These are some pictures of the Hawaii Waterfalls on Hamakua Coast.
Rainbow Falls
The first Waterfall in this post is Rainbow Falls. “Rainbow Falls” was actually inside the city limits of Hilo and it was very pretty. It was a short drive to the northern area of the city, and the falls is a short 50 yard walk from the parking lot. It was a huge surprise to find this beautiful waterfall inside the city limits. It was also a huge surprise that it was so easy to get the waterfall observation area from the parking lot. The access route was a paved walkway with handicap ramp also. You could push a person in a wheelchair or someone on crutches could also make it.

Kama’ae Falls
Then we drove to Kama’ae Falls, and once again as we walked to the observation point we could hear the waterfall before we could see it. It was a flat grassy parking lot and then we walked less the 50 feet to view the falls. The area was part of a tourist attraction, for which you pay an admission fee. But we talked to the ticket seller and after she learned that we just wanted to see the waterfall, she let us go inside for free. In Hawaii we call this generous giving treatment Aloha.
