Plumeria
Plumeria flowers, Leis and Haiku in Hawaii
Pink Plumeria
These flowers, are native to Hawaii, the 50th State of the Union.
They are also frequently white or red.
They are a favorite cut flower for table displays at weddings and parties. They are also popular
Red Plumeria
Flower Lei
I recall that famous poem about a rose being always a rose and never being anything else, a wonderful special glower. But Plumeria are very special too, in white, red and pink. They have the added culture utility of a flower Lei, a form of large necklace made of flowers. A Lei is a Hawaiian welcoming tradition, and also a graduation tradition, of which plumeria are a big part due to their mild but fragrant smell. Some flowers like Ginger are also used to make a Lei, but Ginger is to strong to where for long as it causes headaches. But Plumeria are perfect.
Haiku
Plumeria are also used for Haiku, another ring of flowers ornament that women in Hawaii wear in their hair for special birthdays or celebrations. They are usually 2-3 varieties of beautiful and fragrant flowers,, of which Plumeria is one.
I hope you enjoyed learning about Hawaiian Flower Traditions of Plumeria, Leis and Haiku.
