Customization - Part II

Hey, do you people remember my Customization! yes or no? Either way, here comes the part II.

First of all the scenario has been changed to this:

You got it right! Our folks are really happy with the final product 😌.

A quick recap before revealing the end result:

• The custom L-shaped sofa was ordered with precise alignment and measurements for the TV lounge of my parents-in-law.

• Given the geographical separation due to the fact that we live in separate cities, all communication and details were managed over the phone after the initial order.

A few glitches surfaced during the process. If you've read my prior account, you'd be aware that the measurements initially taken by the sofa specialist turned out to be incorrect. My husband and I had to rectify them, resulting in layers of customization. I was quite apprehensive about whether the person understood our requirements.

Additionally, we sought a hybrid of two designs for practicality and ease of movement. These instructions were conveyed after the initial order.

Lastly, when the guy presented upholstery samples, I didn't choose any as I didn't like any of them. My mother-in-law went in again to choose the upholstery. Unfortunately, the one I had tried to explain to him through pictures and verbally wasn't suggested. Nevertheless, the upholstery was chosen by my mother-in-law. As long as she likes it, it's all well, because in the end, it's their sofa.

So, as promised some fortnight ago, here comes the final reveal:

Can you appreciate the perfect fit on both side??? I'm really happy with the dimensions of sofa; it fits so perfectly in the designated space of the room with doors on both sides of the sofa!

The final design wasn't spot-on for the sofa's armrest; we had envisioned a slimmer and shorter one. However, I believe it can be overlooked, given the perfect fit of the sofa. Above all, our folks love it, and that's what matters most. They're happily binge-watching their favorite shows, and no one has to compromise on seating. They can both lie comfortably in their respective blankets.

If you've truly followed the sofa saga, you may be should be questioning me about the stools' upholstery/ poshish, and extra cushions, promised by the sofa guy as part of the bargain! Well, the deal is still intact, and they will be delivered soon. However, what to do about my impatience! It's already been four days since the sofa was delivered. This girl couldn't wait any longer to share the results and maybe, just maybe, get the long-awaited wow from you guys.

There won't be a Part III of this customization. I'll share pictures of those stools in another post, depending on your interest, as a complimentary item. 🫣

I will end my blog with this quote from Lapo Elkann: "Real luxury is customization" — tailoring products to individual preferences and desires. This approach allows for a unique and personal touch, enhancing the overall experience of goods. However, I would add that not everyone has this luxury, sometimes due to financial strains and others due to time constraints.

I'm happy that ours turned out well, and our folks are satisfied.
