Pendant Lights: DIY

Renovations are always a journey of patience and creativity, and it's so exciting to see things finally coming together. The flooring is done, and now I'm moving toward those little decor touches that truly make a house feel like a home.

While the full reveal is still a little while away, I wanted to share a sneak peek of one of my smaller DIY projects. Some gifts already carry their own unique charm, but when you sprinkle in a bit of creativity and effort, they become even more meaningful.

A dear friend, @event-horizon, gifted me these beautiful hangings a while ago, and I knew they deserved a special place. I had been holding onto them, waiting for the right moment to do them justice. Now, with the floors tiled and the space coming together, I finally rolled up my sleeves and got to work!

By adding a few details and a bit of creativity, we (husband and I) turned these pieces into light hangings.

What We Did

Here’s what we did: we turned these charming pieces into light hangings. It wasn’t as easy as just plugging in a holder, though. First, we attached the holder to the upper side of each hanging with a trusty hot glue gun (DIYers’ best friend!). The holders were white and stuck out a bit, so I grabbed a black permanent marker and painted over them, including the glue, to blend it all in. Honestly, it worked better than I expected!

To hide the wires and elevate the aesthetic, I wrapped them in jute rope, which added a warm, earthy feel to the design.

We braided jute rope as an extra decorative touch, ensuring the hangings looked cohesive and elegant.

Finally, we hung these customized light hangings our corridor/ hallway, ensuring they illuminated the space perfectly. Yes perfectly...

Last night, as I sat in the lounge with soft music playing, I switched on these lights for the first time. The gentle glow from the corridor spilled into the lounge and flowed through the glass doors, creating a seamless, golden warmth that filled the space. It was one of those rare moments when everything aligned — the ambiance, the effort, and the quiet joy of seeing your vision come to life.

It felt like my little haven, safe, cozy, and full of peace. For now, this is home, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Stay tuned for my next project:

What a change for the better! Magnifico!

Wow! Are these the same hangings? You have elevated the whole look by adding lights. You are so creative with jute—that I have gotten to know over the past few months.

Fantastic job!
