In December 2023, I made a plan to visit Goa with two of my friends. We took a flat from Delhi International Airport and reached Goa Airport after a journey of 2.20 hours.

After reaching there, we booked our hotel room in Panjim and spent two days in local taxis and visited Mobor Beach, Palolem Beach, Varca Beach, Cavelossim Beach, Betalbatim Beach, Agonda Beach, Majorda Beach, Bogmalo Beach, Colva Beach, Benaulim Beach.

After visiting these beaches and seeing the famous places there, we got very tired and then we decided to stay in another hotel on Colva Beach. Because this hotel was built right on the beach and we were getting a view of the sea from its window.

We spent a day there and the next day we started visiting Colva beach again from the morning. Starfish are found in abundance on this beach.

There was a crowd of tourists on the long coast of this beach and on that day a group of 12 members of medical students from some part of our country had also come there for a tour. These included some boys and some girls.

Swimming in the sea late at night was prohibited on this beach, but a boy and a girl in this group broke this ban and went out to swim in the sea at night.

They got stuck in the high tide that came suddenly and in a short while the sea swallowed both of them. When both of them did not reach their room for a long time, the other students of the group got very worried about them and reported them to the local police.

After searching, the local police found out that both the students had gone swimming in the sea and did not return from there.

After this, the police and search team sent teams of many people to search for both of them through motorboats and helicopters but they were not found.

The next day at 8 am, the bodies of both the students were found floating in the sea. On finding their bodies, the entire student group started crying and wailing.

They were very upset after seeing the bodies of their friends and the entire atmosphere of the beach became mournful.

The next day the parents of those two children also reached there and they also became very upset by crying. Then the bodies were handed over. But all the other 10 students of the group were sitting on the seashore and paying their last respects to both of them.

After seeing this sad incident, the three of us also cancelled all our further travel plans and quietly spent 2 days in the hotel room and did not feel like going anywhere.

Then the time of our return journey came and we returned to our home with the sad memories we got in this journey. Now even after one year has passed, whenever I remember that incident, my heart becomes sad.

I pray to God that no one should die such a painful death. And may God give strength to the bereaved families to overcome the pain of this great loss.
