Hello, friends today I will be talking about the common misconceptions about nervousness and excitement. Let us start by comparing the similarities.
Excitement and nervousness both are a state of losing one's self-control. In both cases, one loses the ability to take the right decisions. Your heartbeat increases, the production of hormones in the brain increases, and the sympathetic nervous system increase its activity. You are unable to decide correctly and most often end up doing something that you regret later. The major reason for nervousness and excitement is your unconscious thinking about something that may occur in the future. So how to know if you are excited or nervous?
The main cause of nervousness is stress while the main cause of excitement is your readiness to take action. Stress or excitement need not occur only if something is bothering you consciously you can also get stressed or excited if something is bothering you in your subconscious mind. So to know if you are nervous or excited in a given situation the best thing to do is to become conscious of your thoughts and analyze your thoughts peacefully. If you are experiencing fear while doing so that means you are nervous on the other hand if you are experiencing the need to do something immediately that means you are excited.
You would have seen news reporters often asking celebrities "Were you nervous ?" or "Are you nervous ?" and almost 99% of the time they reply that they are excited. But in reality, they do not know if they are excited or nervous. Someone who is going to take a rollercoaster ride for the first time will be extremely nervous but at the end of the ride, they answer they were excited and it's funny to hear such replies 😂
