The Screen Addict Recommends โ€“ Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)

๐——๐—ถ๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฎ ๐—ฉ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ is probably in my top 10 of all-time favorites โ€“ and definitely in my top 5 Action films.

Revisiting the film last night however, made me realize once again that the last act does feel kinda rushedโ€ฆ

After McClane figures out Simon has fled to Canada, the final showdown takes up less than five minutes of screen time. I canโ€™t help feeling cheated out of what could have been a spectacular finale.

Dammitโ€ฆ now I sound like a proper criticโ€ฆ

I guess I just wish there had been more mayhem, really. The deleted scene below โ€“ which is included in most home-releases editions โ€“ gives an idea of what a more cerebral ending would have looked like, but it is of small consolation.

Either way โ€“ the one-liner with which our favorite Die Hard disposes of Simon in the original ending, is still pretty awesome: โ€œSay hello to your brother.โ€
