The Screen Addict Recommends – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)

Despite flashback-Indy’s face looking like it was downloaded from a video-game cutscene (yet another tragic example of CGI < Release Date) I thoroughly enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Spielberg’s absence from the director’s chair obviously hurts a little bit, but I can’t think of anyone more qualified to fill in for the maestro than James Mangold.

Indy’s final adventure is chock full of lovely references to the earlier films, but feels closest in spirit to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) – which is my favorite installment and probably explains why I enjoyed IJatDoD so much.

Ford and Mikkelsen are fantastic, and so is the rest of the cast, actually. Special shout-out to my fellow Dutchie Olivier Richters – a.k.a. The Dutch Giant – who proves that he brings more to the table than just his physical size, as he more than holds his own among these acting greats.

In short (round) – Indiana Jones is and always will be the ultimate Sunday-morning movie.

Seek it out & get your fix.
