Growing your vegetables in containers is a great idea if you don't have a lot of space, but also because it makes managing everything a lot easier. However, it is important to know which ones will do better on their own and not planted with other veggies.

Celery is one of them and is definitely better planted on it's own. As celery grows, it tends to fill up the container, leaving no space for other plants. I learned this the hard way when I planted my celery with other stuff and eventually the celery just took over everything, so the other plants suffered.

Another plant that really does better on its own is Origanum, which is a wonderful herb to grow. It is great to use in cooking, especially Italian recipes and not only that, it looks amazing as it grows and hangs over the side of the pot or container. Origanum grows very quickly, so it will overtake all the other things in the pot of you make it share the space.

Last but not least is mint. Mint grows extremely fast and will spread very quickly, a lot like a weed so unless you want it all over the place it is a better idea to plant it in a pot. Even if you want to plant it in the ground, it is still a better idea to plant it in a pot and put the pot in the ground.

It is not only the size of the container that you need to think about. You also need the right soil mix, and proper watering practices to have a successful container garden, but if you learn all these details then you will have a great container garden even if you don't have a very big space.
