My friend and I made a few of these little resin mood bottles yesterday. We have been wanting to try out resin for ages but for some reason didn't get around to it. I have to say I got so into it and trying to create unusual effects, even after she left I stayed up till 1 am prodding around at them and seeing what cool effects I could create.
With resin you use resin and then a mixer which hardens the resin, once you add the hardener you have to work really really quickly as it starts to harden quite fast, you maybe get around 20 - 30 minutes with each batch till you can no longer pour it because it becomes like jelly. I really really advise getting the toxin, scent free one, we didn't use that one and the chemical smell was so strong, I am sure it's REALLY bad for you especially doing it inside, even though I had the balcony door open I could smell it all night, even on the pillow. I really enjoyed making these though so will definitely be buying some of the toxic free stuff.
I added lots of little bits to these mini bottles I had in from the resin paints, irridescent medium, petals, powered crystals, glitter, gold leaf, acrylic paints, ink. I tried experimenting with everything I could find to make them more interesting. I like to call them little inspiration bottles as they are a bit like crystals to me, something you can just stare at the details and meditiate with. Which ones do you think worked out the best?
Your work is so good I appreciate your post
