So yesterday I was doing some yard work and as I lifted an old sheet of corrugated iron I saw this guys head under it.

I quickly dropped the sheet as I thought it was a snake sleeping under it.

But at a closer inspection I realised it was a blue toung lizard.

Now these lizards are not to dangerous, they might give you a bite if you piss them off enough but that's about it.

Blue tounge lizards also make a great pets as the are pretty chilled most of the time.

But I just left this guys in my back yard.

When they feel intimidated they puff up their belly and make a hissing sound.

Then the will stick out their toung which is really fat and it's Blue!!
Which is where they get their name from "Blue tongue lizard"

They must have been up all night thinking of how to name this lizard.

Blue tongue lizards are often found in backyards in Australia. They are a really cool looking lizard and they are great for pest control.

They can't run very fast as the have stumpy legs. But they can grow up to 50cm long and live for 20 years or more.

I think their heads look like a raptor dinosaur from Jurassic Park.

I hope this guy has a happy life in the backyard and I will meet him again soon 😊
