Hello everyone,
Today i want to talk about another movie that is a cinematic masterpiece and has captive storytelling and with really good character development. Blade runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve, released in 2017, has some really good casts such as ryan gosling as officer k(protoganist), ana de armas as joi, harrison ford as rick deckard, etc, what is more captivating is the cinematography of the movie, i mean it's a denis Villeneuve film, his movies were popular for its stunning cinematography and gripping storytelling. And those were his weapons for this film too.

The setting of the movie is, the protoganist is a new generation replicant called officer k, he is a blade runner who works under police department to trackdown older generations of replicants and kill them. As for replicants, they are a clone of human beings but without emotions so that they obey whatever their owners say, the older generations were very powerful in terms of strenght and at some point before 30 years, they rebelled against human race for their right and that led to a modifications in their versions which lead to making of a newer version of replicants.

The older versions developed emotions at some point, or they had emotions all along, and it just developed into something uncontainable until it just burst. The newer replicants who were ordered to kill their own kind, the older versions were called as blade runner.

Officer k uncovers an evidence to track down rick deckard, a older version of the replicant who has been missing for decades, as the story progress, officer k finds out an evidence that could bring the balance between humans and replicants to brink of collapse. So the higher officer order him to destroy the evidence, but then officer k who changes his name to joe at this point started to question his existence because he is the evidence, it's seems he is a half human and a half replicant and later on people are starting to hunt him down. After some character development, the replicants can feel emotions too, but humans tried to suppress their emotions so that they can use replicants for their own good with lots of technologies, they also observe and test the replicants emotional profile every now and then to keep them checked.

What's more devastating is, joe has this artificial intelligence girlfriend named joi( played by ana de armas), she is a personalised artificial Intelligence and she's the only one who joe can express his feelings, if he expressed his feelings elsewhere, he would be executed since replicants with emitions were considered as rebellions. For joe, joi is the only family and friend who's always there for him. As the story progress, joi has been destroyed in front of his eyes and joe is left alone in this world once again.

After he discovers he is the son of a replicant and a human, he tried to track and meet his father, but then all hell lets lose, the wallace corporation who is trying to make a perfect replicant need this child but they don't know who that is yet, tracked down rick deckard moments after joe finds him and kidnaps rick.

Then the replicants who were laying low and waiting for the right moment to rise and fight with humans again brought joe with them. That's where he discovers that he is nothing special, he is just another replicant all along. The child was a girl and rick and other replicants covered the child's tracks and fabricated that the child was a boy so that it would make the people who wants to find her hard to find her.

Joe was now on the crisis of identity, he now doesn't belong to human world now that he betrayed police department and helped the replicants, and he is nothing special and just another replicant. He is really devastated with what happened and how things have turned out. The end is a bit anticlimatic, but there is no good ending than this in my opinion. The story telling of the movie is something really remarkable and the cinematography brings audience into the bladerunner world.

If you haven't watched the movie, I'd definitely suggest you to watch it as soon as possible. I hope you like the post. Have a nice day.
