I wouldn't bet with a token.
Steem is not very stable and a token would be even less so.
I don't wanna bet 100 tokens worth 100 steem at purchase win a bet then sell for 90 steem because the token price has fallen defeats the whole purpose.
If they introduced a token which was stable and was bought and sold via the holding account and price was always the same that would be better but also confusing to newbies so no real quick fixes unfortunately

I agree with the volatility of the token. Ability to earn the token via posting will encourage people to buy it and keep the price stable with little variation.
At the end of the day, providing different sinks will make the token useful. Ads can be run on the proposed steembet blog and earn site which will be used to maintain the price for bettors.
The positives outweigh the negatives.
