We had to flee after that disastrous ferry robbery. Our gang never expected things to go south, but it all went horribly wrong. And now, here we are—caught in this deadly snowstorm, desperately searching for shelter. Davey was badly injured, and Dutch sent me ahead to find a place where we could ride out the night.

This freezing wind and heavy snowfall were sucking the life out of me, but I pressed on, gripping the reins tightly and urging my horse forward. I had to find something—anything—because if we didn’t get shelter soon, we wouldn’t last until morning. And then, in the distance, I saw something.

As I rode closer, I realized it was an abandoned settlement. Relief washed over me, but I knew I couldn’t stay. I had to go back and let the others know. Memorising the path, I turned my horse around and rode back the way I came, hoping the gang hadn’t gone too far.

“Arthur! Any luck?” Dutch called out as soon as he spotted me.

“I found a place where we can take shelter,” I shouted back. Without wasting any time, I turned my horse and led the group toward the settlement. As we approached, I recognized it for what it was—an old, abandoned mining town. Colter.

As soon as we arrived, Dutch reassured everyone. “There’s no need to panic, but we can’t just sit around doing nothing. We need food. We need firewood.” He’d already sent John and Micah out scouting for supplies. Then he turned to me. “Arthur, you and I are heading out, too.”

That caught me off guard. “Dutch, two men are already out there. They’ll find something. Do we really need to go back out in this storm? Someone should stay here and keep watch.”

But Dutch wasn’t having it. “That’s an order, Arthur.” And since he was the leader, I had no choice but to obey.

Gripping a lantern, we mounted our horses and rode out into the blizzard once more. The howling wind made it hard to see, and an unsettling feeling crept over me. The bitter cold was relentless.

“Hey! Move up alongside me—I can’t see you back there!” Dutch called out through the storm.

I’d fallen behind slightly. I nudged my horse forward, but the deep snow made every step a struggle. Eventually, I caught up to him.

We were talking as we rode forward when suddenly, Dutch pointed ahead and said “Wait… is that someone coming towards us?”

(To be continued…)

Disclaimer

Arthur Morgan and the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 might be fictional creations by Rockstar Games, but my love for this game? 100% real. This is a new kind of adventure I wanted to bring to Steemit. I’m narrating the story of RDR2 from the perspective of its protagonist, Arthur Morgan, offering a fresh and immersive take on his journey. Rather than directly copying the game’s dialogues, I’m weaving Arthur’s emotions and experiences into a creative and fictional retelling. You can also experience this story in a cinematic way. I play the game, record my gameplay, edit the footage in the best possible way, and upload it to my YouTube channel. This way, after reading each story episode, you can watch it unfold like a movie.
