Me ha encantado el tema del concurso. Desarrollar un reportaje fotográfico es la esencia de la fotografía. Gracias por promover un concurso con una base creativa.

Para participar he elegido un reportaje que realicé recientemente en las Cuevas de Sorbas, el espacio subterráneo visitable más grande de Europa. Sorbas es una pequeña localidad del sudeste de la Península Ibérica, en la provincia de Almería. El entorno donde se encuentran las cuevas está declarado Parque Natural y son unas pequeñas montañas calizas que en el subsuelo el yeso se ha ido petrificando y dejando espacio a cientos de cavidades.

Esta panorámica formada por por ocho fotografías describe con amplitud el área donde se sitúan las cuevas. Todo lo que se ve desde afuera, está agujereado por debajo de la superficie.

*To participate I have chosen a report that I recently made in the Caves of Sorbas, the largest visitable underground space in Europe. Sorbas is a small town in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, in the province of Almería. The area where the caves are located has been declared a Natural Park and is made up of small limestone mountains whose subsoil has been petrified by gypsum, leaving space for hundreds of cavities.

*This panoramic view, made up of eight photographs, provides a comprehensive description of the area where the caves are located. Everything that can be seen from the outside is hollowed out below the surface.

El acceso al interior está regulado y es necesario inscribirse ya que el número de visitantes en cada entrada está limitado. Se accede con dos o tres guías que proveen de los elementos de seguridad necesarios, como casco, mono y luz, aunque si tienes equipo propio lo puedes llevar.

Como se puede ver en estas imágenes, hay una gran variedad de espacios. Pasajes estrechos, salas enormes e incluso algún pequeño torrente interior si es época de lluvias.

Para iluminar los espacios usamos la luz de carburo que proveían los guías y dos flashes portátiles que rellenaban los espacios y rincones más oscuros.

Puedo asegurar que la experiencia fue increíble. Sentir y observar bajo tierra los efectos del paso del tiempo y el trabajo de la naturaleza, en este caso subterránea, provocan sensaciones muy especiales.
