Hello everyone!

Since it’s Saturday, the theme of the day is romance. Most contemporary books that I have read under this genre are instant mood-lifter due to their face pace and light-heartedness. As I recollect all contemporary romances that I have read in the recent past, one name sticks out to me – To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Needless to say, Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky have a special place in everyone’s heart due to their intense chemistry and Lana Condor & Noah Centineo did not disappoint us with the character portrayal.

There are two things that I absolutely love about the book: Lara Jean’s baking and the letters in the hatbox, of course.

For everyone who does not know the plot or haven’t seen the movie, Lara Jean bakes as a coping mechanism and every dessert is chef’s kiss delicious-looking. From the spongy chocolate & peanut butter cookies (Reese’s fan could die for these) to sour-sweet cherry turnovers, Lara Jean can brighten up even the dullest days.

Now coming onto the letters. Love letters. Lara Jean wrote five billets-doux to five of her crushes without any intention of sending them out. She is sixteen now and the letters, which were securely stored in her late mom’s hatbox have suddenly disappeared. Not only have they vanished in thin air; they have been posted to her crushes. Yikes!

As it is time to now face the truth, Lara Jean encounters strange feelings – love, adventure, independence etc., which will shape up her personality and compel her to step outside her bubble and let her guard down.

This book is special in so many ways, one because Lara Jean is such an everyday character with certain feelings she is afraid to reveal to the people around her. We all can connect to her, straightaway, while her story gives us inspiration and strength to open up and evaluate what’s the worse that could happen.
