People lack some vital education on family planning. This little or no knowledge render people not to do family planning at all. But family planning is very important when you want to prevent unwanted pregnancies. What then is family planning?

Family planning is the process or way couples space out the number of children they want to have, when they want to have them and the time spacing between each child.

This helps couples or individuals prevent any unwanted pregnancy that is not planed which at the end becomes a burden on the couples or individuals. There are various types of family planning that we have. These types are recommended by a doctor or your personal choice.

The doctor advices you on which type that will help you as an individual depending on you need and the length you wise to be protected.

There are oral contraceptive pills that a woman takes daily on the same day every day. These comes in progesterone only oral contraceptives or combined oral contraceptives which contains both oestrogen and progesterone.

These oral contraceptives aside the effect of preventing pregnancies helps to prevent some reproductive conditions such as polycystic ovarian cyst, correcting irregular menses among others.

We also have the condom which comes in both male and female form. It gives two major protection that is prevents unwanted pregnancies by preventing the sperms from entering the vagina and giving protection against sexually transmitted infections.

Condom is the only family planning method that prevents one from contacting sexually transmitted infection.

The injectable form of family planning is also another option we have the depo provera which is taken every 2months, the noristrate and the norigynon are these are hormones being introduced into the body to prevent ovulation, change the uterine lining to avoid implantation and also thickens the cervical mucosa to prevent sperms from penetrating.
