INTRODUCTION

The title of my favorite Ghanaian Movie is AZALI. It was premiered in 2018. It was also the movie Ghana selected for the Best International Feature Film Oscar. That was actually the first time Ghana submitted a movie. Unfortunately, it was not nominated.
From what I have noticed, it is the only Northern Ghanaian Movie that has been featured in Netflix.
Some of the Casts of the movie include: Adjetey Anang popularly known as Pusher, Asana Alhassan who is the main character, Akofa Asiedu, Ama K. Abebrese, Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye and Peter Ritchie.

STORY

From a very remote part of the Northern Region of Ghana, rural-urban migration (known as Kayaye) had become so rampant. Amina is the daughter of Rukaya who is very bright in terms of former education. She aspires to be a very prominent person in future.
Despite Amina's dreams and aspirations, her grandmother intends to get her married to Alhaji which Rukaya totally disagrees with.
Hajia who is a very wealthy woman from Tamale-the city center finds her way into the village and promises to take Amina with her to the city and then take very good care of her. They are all thought this was a better idea as compared to Amina marrying Alhaji who is old enough to be her grandfather.

Amina finally sets out with Hajia. They took a break at a camp which houses other children like Amina to be trafficked. Aminah realized their mission and then found her way out to escape with Quartey and some other children. After several days of moving from city to city, Amina and Quartey finally found their way to Accra.

Amina and Quartey found their way into the Makola market which is one of the biggest markets in Ghana. Due to the crowded nature of the market, they got separated from each other.
Quartey and Amina engaged in truck pushing and luggage carrying respectively.

After several weeks of hustling on the streets and trying to survive, Amina coincidentally meets Quartey.
They became close once again and got to know where they both stayed. They visited each other more often.
Due to how tough life was, Amina had to venture into prostitution because carrying only luggages could not suffice her feeding, clothing and also her rental.

Considering life in the village and that of life in Accra, Amina decided to go back to her village. She went to visit Quartey and then inform him about her decision to go back home.
As she entered into Quartey's room, he was not around. There was someone else, Boss- Quartey's leader. He forced Amina on bed and then raped her.

After several months of not hearing a word from Amina, her uncle Akatok has been tasked to go to the City and then search for her. After arriving in Accra he met a childhood friend, Joan who owned a chop bar. She hosted Akatok for some days and they went in search of Amina together.
Finally. After several weeks of searching, they found Amina and to their surprise, she was pregnant. Boss suddenly appeared behind Amina and Akatok recognized him.
Do you know whom Boss is?
He is Amina's father.
Boss inpregnated Rukaya too fourteen (14) years ago and she gave birth to Amina.
