Greetings to all and sundry,
We hope you are doing amazing and having a wonderful weekend. All too soon February is drawing to a close and we are happy that you have been with us all this while.
Today is another opportunity for us to share some helpful tips and lessons on ocular health care and we do hope you enjoy today’s session. You are always welcomed to ask questions in the comment section and our able optometrists will provide you with a solution.
For today want to look at how best to tackle foreign bodies getting into the eye, the dos and don’t and the importance of professional assessment after everything.
In case of foreign Body, what to do?
First and foremost let’s break the terms down as this is not a professional eye care or anything of that sort. When we say foreign body we are hustling referring to anything else aside what’s part of the eye falling on to the eye.
So take for instance a speck falling on the eye as you walk down the road or perhaps dust getting into the eye as the wind blows down the road or anything at all. This is basically what your healthcare provider would be referring to as a foreign body.
Foreign bodies could easily cause more damage than they ought to when not managed or treated right, some come get lodged or embedded in the structures on the eye especially the cornea which can be very discomforting and Irritating and painful.
And so the first thing we are not going to do should such a thing happen to us whether it be our work place or driving or walking down the road is to rub it. Please do not rub the eye in that instance. Instead you can wash the face and eye under running water till you feel is removed.
Another thing you can do is to hold the tip of your eyelid and gentle shake it till the objects comes off. If after trying these is still feels lodged in the eye, then it would be prudent to visit your nearest eye care facility for removal as it could be embedded.
please do not blow air on to the eye or request a friend to do that for you as they may end up introducing more foreign bodies on to the eye
Conclusion
Our lessons today is a simple one which may otherwise save you from extra harm or damage in these simple cases or situations that tend to happen quite often.
You optometrist would evert your lid in the situation of lodging behind the lid or use other tools to take it out should it be embedded in the cornea or conjuctiva.
Trust your eyecare provider and know that they would always seek your welfare. in case of emergencies please do not hesitate and as usual you are welcome to leave your comments below. Many thanks to our benefactors and benefactress. Thank you for the support always
