This week @bettervision and A1 Hospital were able to embark on a week-long outreach program to very remote and deprived communities in the Santasi District where the indigenous people of the towns could benefit from free care and free reading glasses. Please find a summary of the work done below;

Summary

During the Week the free screening exercise was conducted in three towns on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. A total of about 200 participants got to benefit from the exercise because it was a weekday and the places that were visited had most of their inhabitants being farmers and people who work outside the town we couldn't capture all the members within the various towns.

However, plans are been made to keep up with this exercise so that those who couldn't make it to the screening due to some reasons or work would be able to add it to their schedule in the days to come. Again, in the days ahead we would be visiting some more of these towns, not the same places but the neighboring towns to also perform the exercise there that they may also benefit from.

Common conditions that came up during the exercise include allergic conjunctivitis which was mainly a result of the work of the general population and the dusty road they have, some cases of glaucoma were suspected and referred for further examination and management, there were also some cases of ocular inflammations which were dealt with as ocular emergencies. In all, it was a productive week.

Conclusion

We are keen on continuing to serve you with updates on our work in the interest of the beneficiaries and our donors and supporters as well as the blockchain. We thank you all for your time, love, support, guidance, etc. Be safe and have a wonderful time.
