A Hawk and a Hen were friends in the nineteenth century. They used to help each other whenever one of them was in need of the other. But one day, a hawk traveled to a city and learned a new culture that included drumming and dancing, which he intended to practice with his friend. After he comes home, he narrates to hen about what he saw over the journey. Hen replied by saying that she doesn't like drumming. But was asked by Hawk to then accompany him to bush to cut wood and manufacture the drum.
Hen didn't intend to go and so told Hawk that she was sick. Then Hawk said no problem, but you kindly give me a cutlass and an axe so that I can go and cut the wood and manufacture the drum. Still, hen refused, saying that the tools were too sick to use. Hawk didn't say anything again and went and begged for the cutlass and the axe somewhere else. He went and cut the woods from the bush and made a very nice drum, which when he was testing it sounded so melodious that hen was adoring it.
The next day, hawk put down the drum and went to his farm. Hen went to get the drum because it had chickens which were interested dancing with the drum. As the drum started beating, the chickens were dancing happily due to the melodious sound of the drum. But unknowingly to hen, hawk heard the sound of the drum while at the farm. By the time hawk went home, hen returned the drums. Hawk went and asked hen if it was she who was beating the drum. Hen replied pretendably that didn't I tell you already about how I dislike drumming? Hawk didn't mind and left home quitely. The next day, Hawk repeated by putting the drum again and left but hid in a bush. Not long after that, hen went and took the drum and started drumming and dancing with the children.
Suddenly, Hawk appeared and grab hen, questioning her about what she replied to him when she was ask to make the drum with him. Hawk yelled angrily at the hen, telling her that it was the end of her life. Hen became shocked and humbly pardoned hawk with a promise that he should wait until it hatched next time, and it came and took one of the chickens. Hawk agreed to hen's promise and that resulted in Hawk taking chickens as prey till date.
