There was a waakye fiesta on my campus on Friday but that didn’t get me excited as much as having the chance to watch my team and the other English play again. It was once again a chance to smile, get angry and probably sad over the outcome of a match. But above all to cheer the footballers and for me, to banter Manchester United.😙🤧
Why didn’t the waakye fiesta excite me? Some of you might be wondering because knowing my school very well, there aren’t a lot of extra curricular activities like these to help us relax and socialize.
I guess it’s because the time allocated for the event didn’t work with my schedule at all. The event was meant to begin at around 9am but I had a practical session at 8. The lab sessions lasts for 3 hours and unfortunately for me I’m in the second batch.
Making observations with my group members and @abu78.
Because our chemistry laboratory isn’t big enough, we’re divided into 2 sets. I finished by work at around 11. Thought I could still get to the event but I had an assignment to submit at 12. My hostel is quite far from the lab so I had to wait for the lecturer to return from a class so I could submit the work and sign my attendance. All this would have been okay if that was all I had to do for the day but no.
I had to rush back to the hostel and prepare for Friday prayers that I almost missed. Fortunately, I got there on time for the prayers and decided to grab lunch before heading for my next class at 13:30.
I finish my food and went to the class at 14:00. The lecturer wasn’t in yet and so I was very glad I decided to eat first. I waited for the lecturer along with my course mates only for us to be told later the lecturer had called to cancel the class. Excitement, excitement, excitement.🥳
I left the class with my friend to see if we could still catch in on the fun. The program started at 9am so a lot of students went early and by the time we got there at around 2:30-2:45, the place was almost empty.
An almost empty “The View”.
The View was the venue for the Waakye fiesta event.
The waakye was still on sale though and some students were playing games like tennis all and ludu.
The waakye, rice and beans.

We left to our hostel because it was quite dull at the time we went.

You might be wondering what a waakye fiesta is. The waakye fiesta program was organized by a restaurant owner, Baako to sell waakye just that day and have students relax and play games. There was also a lot of dancing.
Saturday arrived and my day got off to a productive start. I went for my weekend Islamic studies, Madrasa to learn about my religion.
In class
I became a habitual late comer last semester and so I promised myself this semester to be as punctual as I can be.
The class closed at around 9:30 am and I got to my hostel at around 10:00 am. Had my breakfast and prepared for the highlight of my weekend, the premier league.
I went to another hostel with my friends to watch the first Saturday game between Fulham and Liverpool. The March reminded me exactly why I love watching football so much and why the league is very interesting. All of us thought Liverpool would win and play Fulham off the park but we were very wrong.
Fulham played from the back, were very physical and managed to score a the first goal. At this point, the boys that placed bets started cussing and insulting.😂
Watching the games.
The place was a whole mood after Liverpool equalized. It went back to insults when Fulham retook their lead and they realized they had lost their money. It eventually ended in a 2 all draw.
Waited for the 14:00 game between Spurs and Southampton which proved to very interesting as well. I had captained Kane in my fpl and so was praying very hard I’d get points. I didn’t get points from him but I got a goal from Son and a very late cameo from Perisic.
I went back to my hostel and came back prepared for the Chelsea Vs Everton game. As a Chelsea fan, I wasn’t expecting much because Goodison park has been a boogie ground for about 4 years no matter our form. We didn’t play great but at least we won and I was happy.
Jorghino taking the penalty that won us the match.
I returned to my hostel. Didn’t do a lot the reminder of the night except to start writing my lab report.
On Sunday, my day started with Madrasa as well. We closed from Madrasa at 9:39 and I got home at 10:00. I had a lab report to complete so I got started. I couldn’t complete it before the first game on Sunday started.
The Man United vs Brighton game wasn’t one to miss so I stopped my report and went to watch the game.🤭 I love bantering United and fortunately for me, I got to do exactly that.
Watching the game.
Man United lost to Brighton and my day was pretty much made.
I returned to watch only the first half of the City game when I realized I still had a lot to write in my report.
Finally finished at around 23:45 and got some sleep after that.
This is how my weekend went.

It was not a great game to see United suffer at the hands of Brentford. I hope they put up better performance in their next game.
Greetings and thanks for sharing.

I don’t what what’s wrong with the untied team. They have many great talents but they just can’t seem to play as a team. I’m more than tempted to call Bruno a one season wonder.🤭

Oh my how I love a waakye fiesta. I’ve been fortunate to witness a few fiestas and I must tell you that the food is always tasty. When it comes to waakye I think I will do anything to have a taste of that waakye. I hope you enjoyed your meal😊

Your weekend was interesting, with the waakye fiesta and the return of club football. Like Liverpool, a lot will place bet on their win and will surely insult if they don’t deliver. I hope you had a great weekend buddy.
