Spot The Chameleon

Hello guys,

I stumbled upon a chameleon today. I heard chameleons have a slow pace but this particular one was pretty fast to me. I guess it didn't like the idea of being used for a post on Steemit.

It was my intention to wait patiently until it camouflaged with its green surroundings but this one had different ideas although. I had to follow it around just to get shots as it tried to get away from me.

I took the opportunity to search tge internet to find out why and how chameleons can change thier skin colour to blend with thier surroundings.

According to Wikipedia , chameleons have a thin layer of pigments very close to their skin surfaces under which lies cells with guanine crystals. We recall guanine to be one of the four nucleobases found in nucleic acids.

So what happens is that, as light reflects from surfaces onto the skin of the chameleon, the guanine crystals change the wavelength of light reflecting of them which in tend changes the colour of the skin

There is more meaning to the change of colour than I expected. It turns out that chameleons undergo colour change in event of its current physiological condition.

They communicate with each other with colours changes. That's way, others will know their true intention, either to mate, expressing aggressive or being submissive.

I wouldn't want to bore you with too much chameleon talks but these reptiles are a wonder of nature and worth the admiration.

I hope you encounter to gain the experience.
