Palm Sunday Mass and Cosra Executives Election

Palm Sunday is a great day in the life of every Catholic and every Christian. It leads us into easter. A day to commemorate the death of our Saviour Lord Jesus. In my family is a day, members come home for holidays and if there are family issues to settle, these difference are ironed out for a peaceful coexistence.

• In this life nothing is more important than a peaceful family. In the early hours of yesterday, my daily activity for every Sunday started. I had to leave home early to church to see if everything is in order before the Mass starts and also wait and record announcements from members and individual associations or organization in the church.

So after visiting the bathroom, my breakfast was already prepared waiting for me. My wife knows today was going to be busy because there would be church executives meeting immediately after the service and those kind of meetings has no specific ending time. We close when the agenda for the day is finished.

• I was pressed for time so I ate as fast as I could and dressed up as quickly as possible and went straight to the church premises which is about 100 footsteps from my house. When I got there, the place was already set and the musical group already testing the machine. The Mass Servers had come around and preparing to meet the priest. I went for my announcement book and people started coming to me with their announcements. I had some on my phone from members who think, they cannot come early before the service starts. After recording these announcements, the priest came in and the serves started.

The services ended in two hours because of the covid protocols. After most of the member had left, the church executives meeting also came on.

• The topic was whether or not to do the service twice every sunday's or ones. Looking at the numbers and how social distancing cannot regularly be adhere to be some of the members. We agreed to hold the service twice, one in the early morning around 7:30-9:30 and the second from 10:00- 12:00pm in the afternoon.
• The second was selection of people to the various committees in the church. Myself a deputy secretary and my bosses had a list of people which we delivered to the priest for approval in our next meeting.
• The third one was how to educate the youth on this LGBT going round in Ghana. Same sex marriage and other stuffs which has no place in the church practices.
• The rest of the meeting bordered on other matters. Matters confronting each association in the church and how the leadership of the church can do to help these associations.
  
  
  I left the church around 3pm because after the meeting with the priest, the executives itself met to see the way forward. We coordinate between the members and the priest. The Catholic Church and it's rules are something cumbersome. After that meeting, I left home to ease the stress I had given to my belly. It needed food for energy. Another meeting was scheduled for 5pm. The association I am in at the church. The time period for our executives was due and it was time to re-elect new executives which I was part of the presidential aspirants.

The meeting started on time 5:30pm. There were twenty people in attendance including the patron. The man on the right side in the picture above.

we started with the reading of minutes and matters arising. When that was done, we moved straight into the elections. The positions in contention was

• President
• Vice President
• Secretary
• Vice Secretary
• Organiser
• Financial secretary
• And a representative at the church board.

Cosra Meeting

At the end of the election, I emerged as the winner for the presidential race. And the current secretary on the left side of the picture above also emerged as the new vice president. I gave the acceptance speech on behalf of the new executives and pledged to work hard to make the association as well as the members one of the best in the church. Our motive is to gather the youth of the church to partake in the parish work and to promote love and peace. The name is Catholic Organization for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA).
