GHANAIAN FOLK TALES : 4TH NOVEMBER, 2020 . THE KING OF THE AFRICAN JUNGLE.

Hello my fellow steemians, this is my third entry of the contest and am proud to share Ghanaian folk tale with the house. Without waisting much time, let me take you to my tale for today.

One day a group of animals were having fun together. They started to argue among themselves as to who should be their king. Monkey said the elephant, my friend you should be the king because you are the biggest among us".

Cock said, "No I do not agree". "I don't want elephant to be our king. I will be the king myself. " I should be the king" said the lion. "I am the strongest" he said. Suddenly, tiger jumped from the bushes and shouted, "make me the king", " I am the the stronger than the lion and everybody else".

Finally monkey said to the giraffe, "be our king". We want someone who can see far away and tell us the dangers ahead". Snake hissed and said loudly, " don't look at the height, the size or the strength". "Choose someone who is wise like me". " How can you say you are the most wise among us when I am the oldest here?", shouted the tortoise.

The owl will have none of those. It flew down from one of the trees nearby and sat down beside the monkey. "Do you really think someone is wiser than me?", asked the owl. Before the monkey could answer, the bull came racing down to the playground.

" Why was i not invited to this meetings?", it charged. "If anyone is to be made a king over the animal kindom, it should be me". Along came the chimpanzee then the rhino. " Who called for the king?" Asked rhino. "Here I am." "Welcome your new king", he said.

" No, no, no", said the horse. "Let us have a race ; the one who will be first shall be our king", The horse said. All the animals agreed that it was a good idea. So the race started. Who do you think will be the first to finish the race? Lion was first to finish the race. So the lion was crowned as the king of the African jungle. All the animals came together to celebrate the crowning of their new king.

       THE MORAL LESSONS

1. Be patient for they say, patient is the key to success.
2. Don't rush for what belongs to you will surely come to you
