The difficult times of my life came when my parents divorced and both lived their separate lives. My mother out of frustration left us with my father who together with my step mum helped to raise us(my younger brother and I) . I cannot share the painful ordeals I had to go through as young girl. There were times I had to live with people and to learn most of the thing that I know today, like cooking, washing and taking care of the home.
After I had completed the junior high school I got enrolled in the Nursing training college to further my education. I could only go to school at the last minute when most of my mates were already in school. This happened becuase I couldn't pay for the admission fees on time. At a point I had to seek for sponsorship from a Kwaebibrem district in the Eastern Region to help me finance my education in the Midwifery School.
There has been so many times that I long for mother to be around to give me support but then she was very far from me. I had to go through life all alone. I had to encourage myself from time to time that things will surely get better. Encouraging myself and praying to God for help really helped me.
It was the sponsorship that I received from the district that enabled me to finish my education. I wasn't even sure that I would be granted but God was gracious to me. After school I had to serve in the district due to the sponsorship, it is the reason why I started working at the Kade Government Hospital in the Eastern Region of Ghana after Midwifery school.
I have wept many times at night over why my mother left us alone and why she wasn't there when I needed her most, I though of giving up on my quest to becoming a Midwife. with all the challenges that I had to face I still found a good reason to continue despite all odds. A reason that nothing last in life and things will surely turn around. Indeed the situation turned, I graduated successfully and today I am a professional Midwife, I got the my dream career despite all odds. Glory be to God
I would like to thank the leadership of @steem-ghana and also to @awuahbenjamin for this contest and for the opportunity to share our story about the challenges we have overcome against all odds.
your story is quite sad,,most at times we hear of father's not taken responsibility but for a mother to leave her children in such situation is really difficult hope you'll find a place in your heart to forgive her...we thank God you managed to sail through,,,well done and good luck in this contest
