Hello people, greetings to you all.

I would like to bring to your doorsteps peaceful salutations in the form of our Islamic greetings, Assalaamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuhuu. After a successful Ramadan, it is only befitting that we crown it all with the Eid ul Fitr festivities.

Eid is simply celebrations we do to mark the end of our fasting journey and to pray to the Almighty Allah to accept our humble supplications. It is because, we fast with the purest of intentions without knowing for sure that we were pure enough in the sight of Allah. Thus, we have to plead to him to forgive our shortcomings, for we are not perfect.

Eid prayers is compulsory for all muslims. So we make it a point to go to the mosque on this occasion and participate in the congregational salat, as this form of prayers cannot be said individually. Once we are done saying our prayers, we return home and enjoy our meals.

If we have neighbours, we are to also give them their share as well as those who might be poor and needy. This is why every mosque encourages the donation of food, clothes and other valuable resources so that those who may not be as fortunate can also benefit from this glorious occasion.

On this faithful day, no one is supposed to fast (it is prohibited to fast). The reason is because, we are all meant to celebrate together and no one should be exempted. But after our Eid celebration is over, the next six days are the ones which carry extra blessings in terms of fasting. So muslims can feel free to do so.

Fasting has taught us a lot in terms of what we ought to do in our societies and the right way of living. Let us therefore hold onto the values we learnt and use them to live accordingly.
