I am Africa. Africa, I love listening to children think about you. Reading your name gives me goosebumps. Some may see you as just a continent or a country like those who don't know more about you. To me, you are mama life. The land that not only feeds us but the land that holds Malek's family.

The land full of diversity of cultures. I love your beautiful songs and dances, the languages. Your landscape is gold, masterpiece, gold. Africa is way more than this. Just come since you've touched the sky and land to love the rust and grass when your eyes see the elephants.

This poem looks at the beauty of the African continent as well as the hills the taint is viewing with the understanding that it will always be a place called home.

Oh Africa, hear my cry. A cry for your children in Sudan. I cry for your children in Libya. All your children in Somalia who are dying in broad daylight because the world has kept a blind eye. I cry for you mama Africa for your children always drowning in the Mediterranean trying to escape from you.

The world has seen you through the layers of a polish of poverty and insecurity. They've even called you the darkest concept: oh Africa. No, we cannot stand this, we can change it. We can stop feeding media with the darkest stories.

We can feel like we can fight for freedom like a wave and flag. We can live like brothers because we share some blood and melanin, oh Africa. I am Africa!
