Hello, fellow Steemians. I hope everyone is doing well? Today, I write this article as my entry to the Steem Ghana’s community contest, on “how Steem has transformed your life”, organized by @farhmade. Ever since I hopped onto the Steem ecosystem, my life has experienced some transformations, and I would like to also share my side of the story. As a social media blockchain that rewards members, Steem has inarguably blessed many users financially- and I am one of those people. However, a deeper reflection on the subject matter of the contest made me realize that I have experienced more intrinsic transformations than financial ones. Hence in this article, I would be bringing to the awareness of readers some of the non-tangible positive effects that Steem has had on me.

First on the list is that Steem has greatly educated me in various sectors. I had always heard about Cryptocurrency, but I just could not make an entry into this new era of business. Luckily, I was introduced to Steem, and this was the genesis of a new life journey. Over time, I got to learn what blockchain was, its functions, and the various forms of cryptocurrency, and how they could be traded for one another. The decentralized nature of the Steem ecosystem and the lack of censorship on controversial ideas of its users was quite alluring. Recently, I joined other communities like the Steem Crypto Academy, where I have received profound education on technical cryptocurrency trading and exposure to the latest trend of technological advancement in the electronic money world. These trading skills that I have acquired are not restricted to crypto, but they can also be applied to stocks, indices, futures, and others to make a profit on the market. Trading lessons like these usually come at a huge price on online courses and in-person classes, but Steem made such knowledge freely available. Even better, students are rewarded for doing homework in each class. Isn’t this amazing?

Another intrinsic value that Steem has affirmatively impacted is my creative thinking and writing skills. I used to abhor writing essays- especially creative ones- because I found the act tedious. Ever since joining Steem, I have been motivated to part-take in various competitions, and this has slowly led me to a point in my life where I have become comfortable with creative writing. I can effortlessly convey thoughts in my head into a well-organized piece of article. Although I still have a long way to go when it comes to making articles, I have realized that I have evolved considerably over time. Publishing a lot of these articles has indirectly increased my typing speed, which in turn has made me more productive. I now can save quite a significant amount of time whenever I utilize computer keyboards for writing purposes.

Last but not least, my social circle has evolved. Steem has led me to make new friends from diverse countries. Due to its community nature, Steem brings together people of different backgrounds and ages. I have regularly interacted with new friends that I have made on the blockchain. Some of these friends are older, some are my age mates, and others are younger. It is a diverse community of people with similar interests. Regardless of one’s level of knowledge, you can always meet new users to vibe with. Through Steem, I have been able to connect with my fellow Ghanaians and other people of different nationalities. This interaction is mostly restricted to virtual communications, but they feel almost like an in-person interaction. Through these friendships, I have learned important life lessons through their articles and lucrative opportunities on/off the blockchain.

Steem continues to turn my life around for the good. I am highly appreciative of this ecosystem. I believe Steem has a long way to go and more lives to impact. If it happened to me, it can also happen to others.
