MY BEST TRUE FRIEND AND I - 2019

In life's journey, you're bound to meet a lot of people. Some from your neighborhood, some from your work place, others at your school, some at your place of worship and many others you may meet at events. For all these people we meet, we get to make friends out of the lot.

One of the blessings nature can give you is a true friend. In my little experience in life, I've met a lot of people from a number of the places I've stated above. What I found is that, there are some people who you can confidently call your true friends. Below, I shall share with you some characteristics I've noticed about some of my very good friends so you can compare with yours and find out if you really have true friends around you and also, if you have one already, so you can appreciate them and don't let them go.

I met this friend of mine three years ago when I got into College in my first year. We actually met in one of our church meetings and he came up to me and said he wanted us to take a picture together. We did take the picture and that was how we became friends. In one of our conversations one day, I asked him how we even became friends and he just said "I don't know but I just liked you so I came up to say Hi and make friends with you." I've learned that True friends do not usually have reasons why they're attached to you. If your friend has a reason why he/she is attached to you, what happens when that reason isn't there anymore? Well, I believe you can answer this yourself.

A true friend will make you his responsibility. He/she will check up on you regularly to be sure you are okay. Even when you seem not to call them more often, they'll always be the ones calling to be sure you're keeping up with your calendar and schedules. This friend of mine will always call me whenever I miss lectures. Other times he comes home with some other friends just to check up on me to be sure I'm okay. Truth is, a true friend will go as far as he can to ensure you're okay. It doesn't matter if you've done them any wrong, they'll still be good to you.

A TRUE FRIEND IS ALWAYS READY TO FORGIVE

Have you ever been friends with someone who finds it difficult to forgive you for a little wrong you've done them? Well, I've heard about a rift between to friends which resulted from one passing by the other's house without coming over to greet her. This simple event has led to a grudge that has lasted for a year. Apologies have been sent but this friend will not budge because she sees it as unforgivable. Even to the youngsters going lengths and breadths in search of true love, note that one of the cardinal signs of true love is forgiveness. A true friend is always ready to forgive you no matter the magnitude of wrong you've done. They're always up and ready for you to just make up your mind and say sorry and that's it, you're forgiven. Sometimes, they're the ones who even initiate the reconciliation process even when you are at fault. If you have such a person in your life, please appreciate him/her.

I remember, about two months ago, my cell phone got spoiled after I bought and just used it for about a month and half. Apparently I accidentally sat on the phone while it was in the back pocket of my Jean so I broke the screen. I was so broke at the time so I did nothing about the phone. After a week my very good friend was taking a walk with me and as we were walking, he asked about my phone and I told him everything. Next day, I was home and he came with an amount of Ghc400 and said I should try and get some money in addition to it and get a new cell phone instead of repairing the damaged one.
True friends will always want to help if the resources are available. When you're in need, they're restless. They'll always want to help you out.

A true friend is priceless and hard to find. If you get one, please hold on tight and never let them go. Most importantly, be a true friend to someone.
