HOW TO ASSIST IN THE STEADY GROWTH OF OUR COMMUNITY - POWERING UP, VOTING & NOT POWERING DOWN.

Greetings everyone,

Today I would like to enlighten some of our steemians about some of the things we can do as individuals to ensure a smooth and steady progress of our community as a whole. This is because, sometimes newbies tend to focus on the wrong stuff simply because they fail to see the bigger picture and what we could potentially achieve together as a community.

Aside staying active and producing both authentic and valuable content to add to the steemit ecosystem, there are other good practices that can greatly improve our own accounts and help in the smooth growth of our steem Ghana community. These include; powering up, voting & commenting.

POWERING UP

Steem Power refers to the influence tokens which grants steemians the ability to influence the value of post rewards. This is because, it contributes directly towards your account's voting power thereby boosting your vote value. You can build your steem power through the claiming of your steem power author rewards or by powering up some steem in your wallet.

To power up, simply visit your wallet (https://steemitwallet.com/@yourusername) and under balances, click on the drop down arrow next to STEEM. Then choose power up as seen below.

Power up is instant and once powered up, you can begin to utilize your steem power to vote on posts here on steemit. Some benefits of powering up include;

• It increases the amount of vested tokens one can earn with.
• It allows you to earn curation rewards.
• It increases your voting value.
• Steem power can be delegated (loaned) to a different account.
• Increase in the value of steem greatly benefits steem power holders

Yesterday, I powered up 250 steem to help improve my voting power so as to give valuable support to our steemians. With this, I have increased my vote value on the steem blockchain and better support steemians across the platform.

After powering up, the next step is voting to support various contents within our community. This is to motivate various content creators to share more of their contents with us and foster good relationships with people. Once you vote on people's posts, you also earn a share of the curation rewards during payout.

If you're are not utilizing your steem power to vote, you are simply wasting them and denying yourself of the chance to earn curation rewards.

A big misconception newbies tend to have is that once you vote, you are giving part of your rewards to the author. However, this is simply not the case. Voting simply utilizes your voting power to distribute rewards to authors posts. The best time to vote on a post is after its 5 minutes mark. This is because after that time, 100% of curation rewards go to the author.

NOT POWERING DOWN

Just as steem can be powered up, it can also be powered down. It takes a period of 4 weeks for all the steem power undergoing this power down process to be paid in your wallet. After power down, the Steem Power becomes tradeable Steem tokens that can be transferred any where.

However, since steem power is very important in the functioning of steemit as it helps to reward content producers on the platform, it is very important for users to focus on building this power and not be powering down as soon as rewards are received. That way, we can improve upon our own curation ability and can reward various posts within our community.

Let's consider this scenario;

• If 10 users can give out $0.1, that would be giving us a maximum potential post payout of $1.
• Also, if if the same number of users can give out $0.5, the maximum potential post payout then becomes $5.
• Should we get 100 users with this curation ability of $0.5, the maximum potential post payout further becomes $50.

We must therefore try as much as possible to hold onto our steem power for as long as possible and should only power down some tokens if and only when necessary.

I sincerely hope that with this analysis, we can focus on the smooth growth of our accounts in order to foster the steady growth and progress of our steem ghana community.
