Greetings everyone,
Today I will like for us to consider how to properly engage other users on their posts and how relevant it is to give valuable feedback. This is because, it really shows that you value the efforts the author has put into creating such content and that you care enough to provide good feedback concerning what they created. This is the beginning of great friendship on steemit and is key to gaining attention towards your own blog.
Just like any social media platform, steemit is meant to foster engagement and promote interactions among users, as well as rewards good content creators. We must therefore uphold the core ideology of the social media blockchain. This is done through the creation of good content, visiting other users' posts and providing valuable feedback in the comment section.
Here is how to do this.
COMMENTS TO AVOID
For a while now, I have noticed that some of us do not take time to read through posts. This is quite conspicuous in the kind of comments we leave beneath various posts. Clear examples can be seen below.
- "Thanks for sharing".
- "Looking good".
- "Great day, thank you".
- "Beautiful".
among others.
When this happens, even though you took time to visit the user's post, you could not establish any good connection with the author since you only left a simple "compliment". Also, any experienced writer is subconsciously aware that you did not really go through the post itself. This therefore means that their efforts to communicate with their audience failed and might demoralize very good content creators.
GOOD COMMENTING HABITS
First of all, you should visit a post of interest and then take your time to go through. At first, some posts look like they will take the whole day to go through but in actual sense, most posts will take about 5 - 7 minutes to read. Once you are done, you can provide great feedback concerning what you read.
You don't have to go overboard trying to come up with a good comment to provide since these are things you would notice whiles going through a post, provided you paid attention. In case you need further assistance you can use any of these approaches;
- Talk about something new you learnt.
- If you spot any errors, feel free to correct the author politely.
- Do you have any contributions to make?
- If you had any prior knowledge on the subject, you can share ideas as well.
- Don't forget to ask questions for clarification.
Let's consider the following scenarios;
- Scenario 1 : @blessingkasabe has developed the habit of upvoting quality content on steemit as a newbie. However, he did not know the essence of this till he read this post. He therefore indicates that the post has given him the affirmation that he was doing the right thing. This makes me (the author) happy that I have had a positive impact on the voting habit of a newbie and proceed to praise him.

- Scenario 2 : After going through my post, @edmund.nef finally understood something most newcomers struggle with. And this has to do with Resource Credits. He therefore tells me his past experience with this and appreciates the given explanation. I then become aware of how impactful the post was to him and would be motivated to produce more.

- Scenario 3: @eosxiomara reads the post of @philsally1 and sees that an image wasn't properly uploaded. He therefore points out the error in a nice manner for the author. The author then appreciates the rectification and agrees to make the necessary corrections.

From the various examples above, we see can see the impact great comments have both on the author of the post as well as the commenter and how it fosters good connections on steemit. It is very appalling to come across a great post with no relevant comment underneath it.
Also, my advise for users who are always craving for @steemcurator01 votes is that, the best way way to get attention is to give valuable comment underneath other users post. Once you are fond of doing this, you would be readily identified.
Not by tagging them all the time
Thank you for your attention
Good teaching bro. For sure relationship comes through commenting, mostly newbies. Steemit is a relationship program despite how good your writings may be. That is why communities are created for steemians work through in, to assertain and create a family. Thanks @njaywan for teaching and reminding us

I believe this is very good tutorials that will help give valuable comments on posts. Actually most Steemians do not take their time to comment on post or fail to comment at all.
My pleasure 😁

This is the habit that we all need for our growth. Some of us would have been better if we got introduced to some of these during our early stay. But it still never prevents us from doing the needful. Learning of course is a continuous act. Keep it up and be a better version of yourself. Thanks for this bro. It is much more than useful.
