Hello Steemians. Hope you are all well.

My inspirational story is going to be about Mihlali Ndamase. She is a social media sensation and much as people did not respect this sphere of work at least her level of success in that field has inspired many to pursue their dreams in that field as she has shown them it is possible.

She started out doing makeup tutorials on YouTube and posting mostly fashion and beauty content on her Instagram. She realized her passion for beauty before joining university therefore she decided to do a course that covered fashion and beauty. Truthfully, she started her YouTube channel because she had watched many beauty videos on YouTube from a young age of 15 years and she absolutely loved what they were doing.

This is one of the YouTubers Jackie Aina whom she used to watch.

She decided she wanted to do that to, therefore she started when she was at beauty school. She expressed that it was not easy as the time she started, the beauty industry was not as vibrant as it is today therefore she faced criticism from people that did not believe in what she was doing, as some referred to her as wannabe makeup artist.

Luckily, her family especially her mother were supportive therefore she continued producing her content and made sure it was quality and luckily she got contacted by a brand on her first video which was L’Oréal a renowned makeup brand and from then on various brands have reached out to collaborate with her and she has become confident in the path she is taking.

This was her first video.

One of the other challenges she has faced in her line of work is that some people have not taken the profession itself so seriously therefore she had to be professional and prove to them that her field is really profitable and anyone can pursue it as a career. Just like other social media personalities she has faced hate from some people online who write insensitive comments however she says she tackles this by not reading hateful comments.

In this video she asked a question on how she tackles hate online.

She has been an inspiration to me because she was among the first people in her country to enter her field and has created a pathway for many others to follow suit or to just follow their dreams even when they do not seem to make sense to other people.
