The Tommorow War. A fine movie

First of, for those who have already watched this movie, most of you will probably agree that it is a fine piece of work. Now for those who haven't, don't worry because after reading this post you will most likely be convinced to go check it out for yourself.

The tommorow war is an action sci-fi movie that was released July 2 of this year and it involves time travel, aliens and most important of all, a good storyline that connects the two.

Dan, the main character (played by Chris pratt), is a family man and a former special ops soldier, now working as a biology teacher at a local high school in his community. He constantly feels the urge that there's more he can do with his life than just being a biology teacher, hence he routinely seeks out higher job opportunities in the science division of the government and military sector, which ends in disappointment all the time.

Then one night after returning home from work, to meet friends and family who had gathered at his home to watch and celebrate the ongoing football world cup, he receives a call from one of his job prospects and as usual, it ends in disappointment. Seeing his state of worry, both his wife and daughter come to sit by him to cheer him up and this works, as his mood lightens up and they all tune in to enjoying the football match on their tv screen. Suddenly, a temporal glitch shows up on the screen, only to reveal an opening wormhole or time portal at the venue of the football match and from it appears armed soldiers who make it known to the whole world that they're from thirty years in the future, and that mankind is on the brink of extinction in an all out war, against an alien enemy know as the white spikes.

Fast forward to a few months, the nations of the world agree to send troops to the future to help out in the war, but this doesn't yield the desired outcome and hence civilians are drafted and made to join the fight. Dan also gets drafted but his wife pleads with him not to go and instead run away with both her and their daughter. However, Dan finds no way out and convinces her and their daughter that he has to go help out in the future war.

Upon getting to the recruitment base, Dan meets up with fellow drafted civilians who are then taken through the basics of equiping themselves with weapons and tactical know how.

They are then sent to the future, which doesn't go smoothly as planned, resulting in many dying with a small number left.

The remaining survivors are then led by Dan following orders from the military command, to go rescue and retrieve important assets from a nearby lab under attack by the white spikes.

The mission goes well, but they're attacked upon completing it which results in only three survivors being rescued, Dan and two others. Dan then comes to find out that his daughter who is all grown up in the future, is a high ranking colonel in the military command and that she is on the verge of developing a toxin that could eliminate the white spikes completely.

In short, all doesn't go as planned and the research facility they're housed in gets attacked by a whole swam of white spikes, which ends up with Dan's daughter dying and he returning back to the past with the toxin formula for mass production to be used against the white spikes, however during the attack the machine controlling their time travel to the future got destroyed leading to no more time travel.

Dan and the other two who survived the first attack, get to know that the white spikes were already on earth and didn't arrive in the future as was initially thought by everyone. He and his two new friends with the help of his father and some soldiers from the future, venture out into Russia, where they located the slumbering army of white spikes, engaged them and were able to neutralize them using the toxins and explosives.

In the end, Dan returns home with his father, to meet his wife and little daughter who are excited to see him return alive.
