My dream job

Most persons today at some point in their life had the nicest of dreams. Dreams of becoming a lawyer, dreams of becoming a medical doctor or even becoming a politician. but most times this dreams never really work out. Why? Some gave up on the way.
Well I was almost a victim till I woke up to the reality that no good thing comes easy. Victory is only for them who fight for it.

As a child raised by a single mother, bite hard by the harsh economic realities and the cruelty of life, I've always had this passion for saving lifes. My mum was a health worker, a nurse precisely so obviously I knew much about drugs and how they work. Just Knowing about drugs and studying it in school were two separate ball games I never expected.

Ever since i was a child, I've always dreamt of being a pharmacist but getting admission to a tertiary institution was a major challenge for me. To get admission you need to score very high in aptitude test. so I had to try over and over again for good four times before finally getting admitted. thankfully I never gave up in the process.

Who is a pharmacist
A pharmacist is a person who is involved in designing, creating or manufacturing of a drug. They are experts on the action and uses of drugs, including their chemistry, pharmacology, and their formulation. they can also dispense drugs as well.

Of course to be a pharmacist, you must have completed your B.pharm or a D.pharm program in any of the accredited institutions of the world so as to get the full license of operating as a pharmacist.

Pharmacy as a profession is so versatile in nature as you get to work anywhere you wishes, be it in the hospital as a clinical pharmacist, or in a pharmacy outlet as a community pharmacist or even in an industry as an industrial pharmacist.

Pharmacist play a very important role in the society Apart from dispensing medicine, they also disseminate information regarding the right medication to take, the type of food to eat while undergoing a therapy, patient counselling, etc. Community pharmacists also offer a trusted environment in which to reduce medication errors and improve safety, while reducing costs and improving the quality of care.

Branches in pharmacy
There are five branches in pharmacy, they include;

•Pharmaceutics: this is one of the branches in Pharmacy which deals with the process of studying and creation of a new compound and its conversion into a drug which can be safely dispensed to a patient in order to treat their illness effectively

•medicinal chemistry: This branch plays an important role in the latest drug development. It is a discipline with the combination of organic chemistry and Pharmacology to provide a perfect culmination of chemical synthesis, design, and development for the market of the pharmaceutical drug

•Pharmacognosy: this is the branch of pharmacy that deals with the study of natural drugs ie drugs derived from plant, animal and other natural resources. This is my field and i enjoy every part of the process

•Pharmacology: this is one of the most important branches of pharmacy which is another professional career of its own known as Pharmacologists. It is the study of the interaction of drugs with all living organisms and the study of the chemical compounds which would affect the normal or abnormal biochemical functions

•clinical pharmacy: this deals with development and management of modern drugs, patient care etc. Its application is majorly in the hospital

Conclusion
Whatever your dream maybe, its always achievable, its never too late to focus on your dream. dreams were made to become realities
