The title of the ghanaian movie i have ever watched is Atta and Payini. The movie is a lengthy one of course so in these narration, it is limited to the main character and his family.

In this movie there are two boys who are twins. Their names are Atta and Payini but both parents liked Atta more than Payini. Everytime Atta did something wrong, Mr. Kwame and Mrs. Kwame pardoned him, but for Payini its beatings here and there.

There was always enough food for Atta and inadequate for Payini. But upon all these, Payini took his prayers serious and always prayed to almighty God to set him free from this bondage. One day, Mr and Mrs Kwame hatched a plan to get rid of Payini which involved killing Payini.

The plan was that on that very day Payini will be sent on an errand by his parents to go to the executioners for a package so that he will be killed. Then Atta will be sent later to go and retrieve Payini’s head from the executioners.

So they planned with some executioners to chop off the head of Payini and put it in a sack as proof. They scheduled a day for that operation and sooner or later the day arrived.

As planned, Payini was sent first to go to the executioners to take the so called ‘package’. Payini started his journey to the executioners and on his way, he saw people in a church praying and he joined.
The pastor on that day gave a very long sermon which lasted about 5 hours.

Back at home, his parents thought he was already executed and therefore sent Atta to go for Payini’s head from the executioners. Atta sang as he started his journey to the place of the executioners.

Upon his arrival, the executioners quickly tied him up and cut off his head and placed it in a sack.

Not until Payini remembered that he was been sent on an errand so he run out of the church and headed to the executioners place.

When he arrived, the executioners handed over the sack to him. Little did he know that it contained the head of his twin brother, Atta. He took the sack and headed back home.

On his arrival, both parents were shocked because they were not expecting Payini to be alive by then. There is a saying that “man proposes but God deposes”. So his father quickly took the sack from him and to his surprise it contained the head of their beloved Atta.
Mrs. Kwame gave out a loud wail and fell to the ground.

At that instance, Payini thanked God for saving him from been killed

Moral lesson: In life we shouldn’t be selective in loving our children as it will bring about jealousy.
