It has so many health benefits which include;
- Boosting of the brain
- Improvement of energy level
- Ability to concentrate
- It reduces heart disease
- It provide other essential nutrients required for good health and
- It also provide better health management.
Regardless of the benefits of breakfast for wellbeing, most people fail to have breakfast for some reasons best known to them. The great news is that; there are variety of ways to make breakfast easier to fit into daily meal. This can be done by looking for a simple meal like;
- Tea
- Custard
- Fried yam/ potatoes
- Egg (boiled or fried)
- Fresh fruits
- Bread/ Cake
- Natural yogurt
- Akara (beans cake) and
- Cereals.
Most people ask this funny question often; "why is breakfast important"?
Well, after waking up from sleep, one may not have eaten for 12hours or more, breakfast will then fill the stores of nutrients and also energy in the body. This energy source is the "glucose". When this glucose is broken down and being absorbed from carbohydrates eaten, the body stores most of the energy as fat. Although, the body also store few glucose such as "glycogen", smaller amount in the muscles and most of it in the liver. During overnight, the liver breaks down glycogen and release it into the bloodstream as glucose to keep blood sugar level normal, which is important for the brain.
BOOSTING OF BRAIN
Without breakfast one will be struggling to focus and sluggish in doing things throughout the day. Which is because the brain hasn't received enough glucose (energy) required. This might affect the mental performance, ability to concentrate, makes some things feels harder to do and even weakens the memory.
People who likely skip breakfast are older people and also those that are overweight, have poor diet, always tired to be bothered, low income in the households, do not feel hungry, no food readily available in the house and those that do not get enough sleep.
CONCLUSION
Eating breakfast regularly helps to perform better, compared to those that skip their breakfasts. I don't see why one should skip breakfast, if you are time poor, start early, schedule and act on it, prepare quick breakfast (Should be healthy) a day before. Have a better eating habits today and stay healthy.
