The secret of the ancient Egyptians' obsession with cats?

The ancient Egyptians’ fondness for cats is visible in all temples and tombs.. This fondness is hidden in their belief in the duality of cats, being loyal and quarrelsome, like the ancient rulers and the gods who took care of them sometimes and got angry at them at other times.

The ancient Egyptians were famous for their intense fondness for cats, and this fondness left its mark on artifacts from large statues to precious jewelry. The ancient Egyptians also mummified countless cats, and they even created the world's first pet cemetery, a cemetery that is nearly 2,000 years old. Includes cats wearing iron and bead collars.
The Greek historian Herodotus wrote that the ancient Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of respect at the loss of cats. The ancient Egyptians believed that their gods and rulers had cat-like qualities, and cats were also seen as possessing duality: on the one hand they could be protective and loyal, and on the other hand they could be quarrelsome, independent and fierce. All this made the Egyptians view cats as special creatures worthy of attention. This explains why they build cat statues.

Lots of research has indicated that this obsession was not always kind and loving, and it is likely that there were entire industries devoted to raising millions of kittens to be killed and embalmed for burial alongside their relatives between about 700 BC and AD 300. In a study published last year in the journal Scientific Reports, scientists took X-ray scans of stuffed animals, one of which was a cat. This enabled them to get a detailed look at its skeleton and the materials used in the mummification process. The scientists concluded that this cat was less than 5 months old when it died, when its neck was deliberately broken; Which explains to us that the practice of sacrificing cats was not rare, as they were often bred for this purpose. Offering many creatures as a votive sacrifice to the gods of ancient Egypt was a way of appeasing the gods or asking for help from them.
