Probably be your impression of me especially being that you may not have seen me before.

A first impression is a lasting perception of someone.
Ladies and gents, there's beauty in making a good first impression for yourself, let's look at a few stuffs that can boost your first impression.

Before delving proper into it, Note that a good impression doesn't mean being pretentious or taking up a different personality totally not you, rather, it is conducting and presenting yourself in an acceptable way that conveys just what you want to communicate to your listener or beholder as it may be

Your demeanor

Your demeanor is your non verbal behavior, I chose to start with behaviour because your aesthetics is very dominant in that aspect.

Starting from your facial expression, your face is your first point of contact, so if your face is looking like 'quail' you obviously got it wrong😑. And if you are smiling too much, people would probably think you're nuts and I'm sure we don't want that.

• fidgeting
  Fidgeting with your nails, legs, phone or just any stuff in your hand while communication with someone for the first time doesn't speak well of you, your listener might feel you are timid, unserious or a distracted person. And on the contrary, you are actually expected to be relaxed and easy.

how to do it;

1| Maintain a warm smile, it keeps both you and your listener at ease. Do not smile too much that I start thinking you are mental.

2| Be at ease, find your ease and be in peace, fiddling with your phone is improper while speaking with someone, you could hold your bag in hand and tilt your head sometimes stay still, but do not stay still like a monument.
3| Do not stare in an awkward or bizarre manner, you keep your eyes in a neutral position

Dress and grooming

I remember one of our series on journey to aesthetics " speak clearly on our dress and grooming. Your dress should suit what you are communicating and not speak other wise. Of course no one wants to hire a person looking shabby and crass, some others would even feel embarrassed, so why would you want to wear that skimpy skirt in your hanger or die your black hair green for that bank interview?🤷‍♀️

how to do it

1| Do not dress in overly loosed clothes
2| Do not wear too tight or revealing dresses that doesn't speak your reason
3| dress to fit occasion

Your approach

• Be prepared

If you are going to meet someone for the first time, you need to be prepared, practice self confidence. Practice what you'd probably be asked if its an interview, if possible make a research if its an
Organization or a body of people.

• Your mental approach

Your mental approachto a situation or someone matters. Never go to an interview with a "maybe" mindset. You can't prepare for an interview and say- let me go, I might or might not get recruited. Doing so, won't bring the best from you.

• maintain your confidence

While gisting about an interview, jenival who is a writer was asked; can you work under pressure?
Guess her answer-

First of all, she asked "are you about putting me under pressure? In her answer she said -" I always work under pressure, but pressure I create from within, so if you'll put me under pressure, we'll have to negotiate the price"

If you did read that twice, you'd agree that was much confidence and you might say even too cheeky for a potential employee. But I'll tell you, its better than making that unsure face or stammering or being confused, worse still staying mute or agreeing to some discomfort.

how to do it

1| Maintain a good posture
2| Be confident and natural
3| have a positive attitude, be convinced on your success
4| stay calm and be prepared beforehand

Communicate well

You don't need to be flowing in polished English or big grammatical. You just need to be sure that you are conveying your intended meaning, be sure to express yourself in polite and sincere ways. how to do it

1| Use clear language and avoid grammatical errors
2| Avoid ambiguous grammar
3| Avoid using fillers "like, uhmm, ahh, err" too often
4| Do not look bizarrely at people.
5| Never mention how nervous you are no matter how freaked out you get
