The Benefit of Cucumber

In Indonesia, cucumber is often devouring as an ingredient in fresh vegetables. Usually, Fried Penyet Chicken, Fried Geprek Chicken, and various other foods are served as a complement of food. Cucumber has the Latin name Cucumis Sativa. It is classified as a fruit because it has seeds. Did you know that there are many health benefits of cucumber? One of which is to tighten facial skin when used as a face mask.

The content of vitamins A, B, and C, minerals such as magnesium, potassium, manganese, and silica in cucumbers make it very beneficial. Several studies have shown that cucumber has anti-diabetic benefits, antioxidants, cleanses toxins and body waste, soothes skin irritations, and prevents constipation.
Here are five health benefits of cucumber.
  1. Increase hydration
    The water content in cucumber helps maintain body temperature, regulate metabolism, and preventing kidney disease.

  2. Reducing blood sugar levels
    Cucumber is a fruit that does not contain starch which helps reduce blood sugar levels that is good for diabetics. A study published in BioImpacts also found that the benefits of cucumber are effective for reducing oxidative stress and preventing complications of diabetes. However, further research is still needed because the experiments are still being carried out on animals.

  3. Smooth digestion
    It contains fiber and water help prevent constipation and improve digestion. The fiber content in the form of pectin in cucumbers helps regulate bowel movements and increases the frequency of bowel movements.

  4. Maintain heart health
    The potassium content in cucumbers helps lower sodium levels, thereby reduce the risk of heart disease. There are also benefits of vitamin K in cucumbers which can help lower blood pressure and prevent mineral build-up in the artery area.

  5. Improve facial skin conditions
    Some women must have used cucumber as a natural ingredient for treating facial skin. It is because the water content is helpful in cooling, soothing, and relieving redness.
