INTRODUCTION

Greetings to all the women in the @steemwomensclub community. It's my pleasure writing to you all.
Recently I had the opportunity to attend an art exhibition put together by my friend Chidera Rosecamille Aneke (aka Certified camille), A leading radio broadcaster in the field of health at DarlingFm Owerri.

This exhibition aimed to use art to highlight the ills in the health system, and at the same time advocate for better health systems for Imolites and Nigerians at large.
Even though it was the first of it's kind nationwide, It was an amazing put together exhibition, where I learnt a lot and saw how seemingly 'little art' could say so much

ART FOR HEALTH EXHIBITION 2021

I arrived the Exhibition venue by 2:00pm, and from the canopies outside where doctors were seated, clad in their 'robes' conducting free tests I felt this was going to be a very serious event. Not until I got into the hall, and then relaxed.

I arrived early so I got to participate in the get to know each other
It was a time to connect with artists(both music and paint), music/art lovers and everyone in general.

Introducing myself.

The environment was so serene and artful with different art pieces depicting different ills in the health sector.

After the get to know, the host certified camille spoke to us about the reason for organizing an artforhealth exhibition

She also highlighted on some ills in the health sector she hoped the exhibition would bring to light.

Next to speak to us was a doctor. Her first question was if any of us had suffered or gone through any trauma due to the bad health sector and there were many experiences people had to share. From hospital staff being rude, to light going out during surgeries. The tales weren't pretty.

She then spoke to us on a number of things we can do or avoid to help our bodies.
She spoke about eating your colour.
Eating your colour talks about the quantity of vegetables in your food. She stated that we have a lot of vegetables we can mix in our food.
Eating in large quantities isn't what's going to bring out your skin colour, eating healthy is.

She spoke about something called hidden hunger. Hidden hunger is when your body is hungry but you don't know it, because your body isn't giving you the hunger signs. She said Hidden hunger is responsible for making people look malnourished.

She spoke about the importance of taking fruits and vegetables. The goal being to live longer and healthier.
Nigeria is blessed with very plenty vegetables which we can access right from our backyards or at the local markets at very affordable prices.

She told us that everything we eat is broken down into sugar in the body, but the difference is in the quality of sugar one is taking.
She spoke about the habit of adding salt to plantain before frying, adding extra salt to your food, these can lead to cardiac arrest.
The recommendation being 1/2 tablespoon of salt per day.
Finally she told us to make sure we Drink lots of water daily,as water is very important.

I truly learnt a lot from the health talk.

After the talk I went around admiring the different art pieces while bids were made for them. Here are a few art pieces

There were lots of fun activities. Face painters were around painting people's faces and hands. Also present was an amazing drama group. while they were performing, I took the opportunity to take a few pictures with some friends I hadn't seen in a while.

I couldn't leave that hall without taking a picture with the amazing host who'd put that event together,so here goes

I hope for more of these events as it serves as a good way to non violently protest the ills in different sectors of the economy.
If you're interested in any of these art pieces drop a message and I'll get back to you.

Thank you for reading,I hope you learnt something.
